What denim weights are produced, and what does each suit?
Lighter weights suit warm-climate and stretch programmes; the 11.5 to 13 ounce band covers mainstream retail; 14 ounces and above suits premium and workwear positioning.
| Weight | Character | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| 10–11 oz | Light, structured | Gulf and South Asian markets, year-round |
| 11.5–13 oz | The standard jean | European and North American mainstream |
| 14 oz+ | Stiff, strong fade | Premium, heritage, workwear |
Weight is quoted finished, after sanforising. A heavy wash removes weight, so where finished-after-wash weight matters it is stated separately in the specification. Denim weight in ounces explains how the figure behaves through finishing and what stretch content does to the practical ceiling.
Which jeans blocks and fits are available?
Five-pocket, carpenter and utility blocks in straight, slim, tapered and relaxed fits. Buyers supplying a reference garment get their own block reproduced; buyers starting from a description work from our developed blocks and adapt them.
Fit is confirmed on a fit sample, not on a drawing. The measurement chart and its tolerance table become the reference for bulk, and a chart without tolerances cannot be enforced — a point worth settling before the order rather than after the container.
Grading follows the destination market. EU, UK, US and Gulf size conventions differ in both waist labelling and body proportion, and a single size chart applied across markets produces returns. State the market and we grade to it.
What washes and finishes can be applied?
Each finish is approved on a wash sample before bulk, because wash results vary between batches more than any other process.
- Rinse removes size and softens minimally. Fastest and cheapest.
- Enzyme produces even softening and mild fading with low variation.
- Stone produces stronger contrast and more batch-to-batch variation.
- Bleach lightens substantially and requires tight process control.
- Hand finishing — whiskering, sanding, tacking — adds labour minutes per piece and a wider tolerance band.
Wash variation is normal and must be planned for. We approve a wash standard and a tolerance range at sampling, and bulk is judged against both. A buyer expecting zero variation across a 5,000-piece run in a stone wash is expecting something the process does not produce. The guide to denim finishing processes sets out how each wash is specified on a tech pack.
What is the minimum order quantity for denim jeans?
The constraint is the fabric dyeing lot and the wash batch size, not the sewing line. Buyers selecting a fabric already held by the mill avoid the dyeing lot minimum entirely.
Consolidating washes has the same effect as consolidating colours: one fabric across three washes runs more efficiently than three fabrics. Where a buyer's quantity sits below our minimum, we will say so rather than accept the order and subcontract it somewhere we do not control.
How long does a denim order take from approval to shipment?
Typical industry timing runs 60 to 90 days from approved pre-production sample to shipment-ready, with fabric procurement and washing accounting for the largest blocks. Add 15 to 25 days where fabric is dyed to order.
Washing is the stage buyers omit most from their own planning. It is a batch process with a queue, and a heavy hand-finished wash adds materially more time than a simple rinse.

How do I order denim jeans manufacturing?
Send a reference garment or a specification stating ounce weight, composition, elastane percentage, block and wash. We quote unit price, minimum quantity and lead time against it, and flag anything missing before the price is firm.
For denim without a manufacturing lead time, look at what we hold in ready stock — lots vary week to week, and the current list states weight, wash, size ratio and available quantity per lot.
